Firestorm 2007 Emergency Response
Location: San Diego, California

Firestorm-1

LSA was called upon by an electric utility company when the October 2007 Southern California Wildfires broke out. This fire burned hundreds of thousands of acres along with thousands of overhead wood utility poles. LSA quickly responded within hours with support from the Irvine, Palm Springs, Riverside, and Point Richmond offices. Teams of field crews were established and quickly mobilized to remote areas throughout San Diego County for several seven-day-work-weeks. Biologists provided on-call monitoring services to the client's crews, including pre- and post-construction documentation of access road regrading and erosion control consultation. Data collected in the field were compiled, organized, analyzed, and interpreted for data form entry, including data necessary for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regional General Permit 63 compliance. Our client had six biological consulting firms on-call at that time. LSA provided the majority of, and highest level of, response and service. Our efforts were recognized in a thank you letter from the client's environmental safety and electric transmission and distribution departments.
