Yolo County General Plan Update Environmental Impact Report
Client: County of Yolo
Location: Yolo County, California
Yolo County is located in the heart of California’s Sacramento Valley, from the Sacramento River on the east to the Coast Range on the west. There are four incorporated cities, home to 85 percent of the population; but for the most part, the County is rural, and most of the land is used for agriculture and open space. The County’s elected officials are committed to the concept that agriculture is central to the County’s future; however, the location of the County between the rapidly growing regions of Sacramento and the Bay Area is putting development pressure on the unincorporated communities and areas of the County. The General Plan update process, started in 2004, is intended to provide a plan that will reflect the County’s vision for the future. It will establish a land use and policy framework, protect its resources, promote its economy, and provide services and infrastructure to keep pace with growth. LSA was selected to work with the County and its General Plan consultants to prepare the programmatic Environmental Impact Report. LSA will update the existing baseline conditions, conduct any necessary additional research, and prepare the Environmental Impact Report and the mitigation monitoring and reporting plan.
