Pilarcitos Quarry
Client: West Coast Aggregates, Inc.
Location: Half Moon Bay, California
Located in the coastal mountains of San Mateo County, Pilarcitos Quarry has been continually active since the 1960s. The quarry is located on a 593-acre property and provides fill material, sand, drain rock, and aggregates to the San Mateo coast and the Peninsula. The property lies in a long valley with a riparian stream and numerous endangered species. Due to the numerous environmental issues at the site, LSA is managing a team of very specialized consultants to address each issue. In addition, LSA is coordinating the consultant teams’ work with input from multiple agencies such as San Mateo County, California, Department of Fish and Game; U.S. Resources Control Board; Air Quality Board; and the California Coastal Commission. LSA provides permit compliance services and prepares the necessary documents to keep West Coast Aggregates’ operation in compliance with all federal, State, and local regulations.
