Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

LSA is working with WRT Associates to prepare the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area General Plan/Resource Management Plan. LSA is responsible for preparing a Resource Inventory and Resource Element, participating in the General Development Plan, and preparing the Environmental Impact Report to manage, use, and enhance the lakeshore surrounding the 18,000- acre Folsom Lake reservoir as well as 5-mile long Lake Natoma. The Folsom Lake State Recreation Area is located between the cities of Auburn and Folsom, just north of Sacramento. Existing park uses include: boating, rafting, hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping, bird watching, kayaking, sailing, and other activities. Primary issues include regional recreational opportunities, traffic accessing the park, potential impacts to wildlife and vegetation, and potential impacts to cultural resources. As the environmental consultant, LSA provides expertise in biological resources, cultural resources, traffic, air quality and noise. The General Plan will define the broadest management framework for the future development potential, ongoing management, and public use of the park unit.
