LSA’s Rocklin office has assisted Caltrans since 1997 in support of a new 12-mile freeway bypass project in western Placer County. LSA’s work on the project has included primarily biological resources and wetlands studies. The initial products of this work included a Natural Environment Study, wetlands delineation, and Biological Assessments. As the project evolved, LSA revised the technical documents based on changes in the project alignment. LSA prepared updated Biological Assessments and Wetlands Delineation and assisted Caltrans with Section 7 consultations and development of mitigation, including preparation of a Preserve Management Plan for the 500-acre Rockwell Ranch that is a component of project mitigation. LSA also played a key role in the permitting process. Currently, LSA is monitoring project construction, which began in 2008.
