LSA is currently analyzing the traffic impacts for a proposed high school in the City of Long Beach. As part of this study, LSA has conducted level of service analysis at five intersections in the vicinity of the proposed high school project. Both existing conditions and project opening year (2011) conditions were analyzed. Trip generation for the high school was developed based on surveys conducted at a similar, existing facility. LSA also proposed a reconfiguration of the intersection of Los Coyotes Diagonal/Studebaker Road/Parkcrest Street. A conceptual restriping and signal modification plan was developed by LSA as part of this analysis. LSA’s preparation of the analysis involved the key element of multiagency coordination. LSA is working with the Long Beach Unified School District (Facilities Development and Planning Branch) and the City of Long Beach to successfully complete this project on time and within budget. LSA is using its multiagency experience to help the City expedite its review and approval process for developments that are not under the City’s jurisdiction but that generate traffic that impacts locations within the City’s jurisdiction.
