LSA led a multidisciplinary team to conduct a habitat restoration and public access feasibility study for Albany Beach at Eastshore State Park. Albany Beach is one of only a few sandy beaches along the East Bay shoreline. The project site includes parcels owned by the East Bay Regional Park District, the State of California, the City of Albany, and private landowners. The LSA team documented existing and future conditions, prepared background and technical studies, performed a constraints and opportunities analysis, and developed a series of conceptual project alternatives. LSA participated in a series of public outreach meetings during this process. The feasibility study addresses the potential for restoration and expansion of dunes and eelgrass beds, shoreline erosion and sea level rise, closure of a gap in the Bay Trail, and improved water access.
