LSA conducted an intensive-level survey of the Westlake Recovery Redevelopment Area, an area just west of downtown Los Angeles that contains over 1,500 parcels, over a thousand of which were constructed prior to 1965. The survey was part of a joint effort with two other firms to conduct simultaneous surveys for the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles. To be compatible with the City of Los Angeles multi-year Citywide Survey, LSA and partner firms prepared the Historic Context Statement in collaboration with staff of the City’s Office of Historic Resources. In conjunction with this project, LSA developed a survey field application and database, the Historic Architecture Inventory, which automatically generated property descriptions and associated photos taken in the field. The database is capable of printing reports, including DPR 523 forms. LSA also participated in an extensive outreach program, organized by partner firm and project prime Chattel Architecture, which was designed to include multiple stakeholders within Los Angeles.
