The videos below demonstrate some of the simulation products that have been prepared by LSA. Experience in developing microsimulations includes detailed single intersection simulation, corridor simulation, and large-scale planning simulations, including over 100 intersections.
TransModeler: Rail Crossing
This simulation, currently under development, will quantify the impacts of increased passenger and freight rail traffic in Springfield, Illinois. A proposed high speed rail corridor will result in longer, more frequent freight trains as well as additional passenger trains. In the short term, passenger trains may block several at-grade crossings as passengers load and unload. The 3D view and plan view below demonstrate the current status of this simulation, which includes over 130 signalized intersections and 30 at-grade rail crossings.
VISSIM: Continuous Flow Intersection
LSA prepared a simulation of a proposed continuous flow intersection in Loveland, Colorado. This simulation served two purposes. First, the simulation provided technical input such as corridor travel time, queue length analysis, and average vehicle delay to a multicriteria decision analysis. Additionally, the simulation was used to produce video simulations demonstrating how the intersection works - for both vehicles and pedestrians.
VISSIM: Roundabout, Intersection Reconfiguration, and On-Street Diagonal Parking
LSA prepared this simulation of a proposed street configuration that included a roundabout, an intersection reconfiguration, and on-street diagonal parking. The simulation was used to demonstrate the interaction between parking vehicles, pedestrians, and through traffic. In addition, the simulation was used to provide information about roundabout performance in coordination with a RODEL analysis.
