Langley Hill Quarry

LSA prepared and submitted the Amended Mining and Reclamation Plan to San Mateo County for Langley Hill Quarry. This small, remote operation provides an important source of aggregate to the residents and businesses in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The hillside mine is constrained by space and the method of excavation is limited by the geologic conditions at the site. LSA worked closely with the operator and geologist to design a final grading plan that fulfills the owner’s objectives and incorporates the geotechnical criteria, while addressing environmental issues. LSA prepares additional documents for Langley Hill Quarry, including Hazardous Materials Business Plan, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Storm Water Monitoring Program and Financial Assurance Cost Estimate. Currently, LSA oversees the preparation of all compliance documents for the quarry, such as air permits, water rights reports, Williamson Act determination and the Office of Mine Reclamation’s mining operator annual reports.
