LSA believes
that an integral part of design grows from an understanding of client
needs, environmental context, and scientific principles. LSA bases
its work on the environmental, economic, and social realities
of the location
LSA's design will affect. The broad scope of LSA's capabilities—from
environmental assessment and transportation planning to habitat restoration
and archaeology—equips us to design projects that preserve
the environment and please the eye.
The majority of LSA’s design work supports public and community
projects, with an emphasis on the protection of natural resources and
on transportation
infrastructure. The recreation areas, parks, trails, and community project plans
LSA creates are informed by analyses that reveal the fragile resources that LSA's
design
must respect and protect.
Strategy, problem-solving skills, and public outreach are critical to the success
of LSA's designs. To ensure that the solutions LSA develops address local concerns
from the start, LSA involves the community in formulating alternatives. LSA supports
its work with full graphics capabilities, Computer-Aided Design and Drafting
(CADD),
and
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping.
